BBC Drama: Artemis '81
Artemis '81 is an unusual, hypnotic BBC drama from the early 1980s that blends science fiction with ancient mysticism.
Starring Hywell Bennett, Dan O'Herlihy, Sting, Daniel Day-Lewis, Dinah Stabb, and Margaret Whiting
Von Drachenfells (Dan O'Herlihy) is an elderly musician who has unleashed an ancient curse on mankind. On a faraway planet, Asrael, an evil godlike being, awakes his mother, Magog, and tells her it is time to go back to earth. Meanwhile, author Gideon Harlax investigates the suicides of passengers who were on the same North Sea ferry. The investigation takes Harlax to an alien world inhabited by angelic aliens, a rundown futuristic city, and into the heart of an ancient curse that threatens to destroy humanity...

ReplyDelete3 hours of heaven. Looking forward to Rudkin's commentary.
Watched this back in '81. A bit too much for my tender 17 year old sensibilities, evidently...
